• Coordinated the safety/claims program for Archer Western, for the “Green Lineâ€, a $900 million, 44 mile light rail, heavy civil construction OCIP project traversing 5 suburbs and Dallas proper. Staff of 12. $2 millon departmental budget. Programs responsible for cost per-hour worked over 2 million man-hours at one-third of forecast costs. Project awarded the Mathew Miles Walsh II large project corporate safety award.
• Coordinated the safety/claims program for Koll Development Company (KDC), on the BlueCross/Blue Shield of Texas, Inc., corporate campus project in Richardson, TX. A $600 million OCIP. Responsible for all project safety program installation, subcontractor enrollment, training, job site safety and claim management for 140 subcontractors. Program awarded both the McCarthy (GC) developer safety award and the KDC job site safety award of the year.
• Directed development of the in-house safety capability to 140 operational departments for the 7th largest city in the U.S. Included training 280 departmental safety coordinators, setting operating budgets for safety, and training of safety staff in auditing, hazard recognition and control; development of field safety surveys. Presented the process to city management. Program resulted in City’s lowest incidence rate in two decades.
• Coordinated the development of the City of North Richland Hills, insurance, claims and safety programs. Programs responsible for reduction of incident frequency from 230 per year to 140 per year. Changed TPA, improving claim management, remarked insurance portfolio and amended deductible to reflect enhanced safety capabilities, reducing insurance costs by $50k a year.
• Created, from inception, the safety, health and claims programs of Certified Systems, Inc., a start-up employee leasing company that expanded to 1,000 clients, with 20,000 employees in 46 states. Consistency of application produced an EMR of 3.45 being nearly one-third of other leasing companies ($12.00).
• Created, from inception, the safety/claims programs for Dallas Carriers Corp., a start-up interstate trucking company that grew to $400 million a year in sales; 500 units and three terminals. Developed all aspects of safety and claimsl programs. Responsibilities were expanded out to cargo losses and then to the company’s overall insurance portfolio. Consistencies in cost control and accident prevention seen as a primary driver in company’s rapid, national expansion.
